How to sew a satchel for school

In a light and comfortable cloth satchel with long straps and a short handle, there is a place not only for notebooks and textbooks, but also for other necessary things.

You will need:

  • velveteen (main fabric)
  • cotton fabric (lining)
  • scissors
  • Castle
  • 2 adjusting buckles for straps
  • finished oblique trim
  • belt belt
  • marker
  • non-woven

Step 1

From corduroy and cotton fabric, cut out 1 valve detail. Fold the parts with the wrong sides, chop and grind along the contour to the edge. The seam allowances in the rounded section should be turned over with a finished oblique trim.

Step 2

From velveteen and cotton fabric, cut out 1 part of a satchel measuring 69 x 27 cm each. Cut 2 pieces 52 cm long for the straps and a 20 cm length for the handle from the belt belt. Pin the straps and the handle to the upper section of the velvet part from the front side.

Step 3

Place the valve and the knapsack detail from the cotton fabric onto the velvet knapsack detail with the front side to the front side, pin to the upper cut and grind at a distance of 1 cm.

Step 4

From the velveteen and cotton fabric, cut out 2 side parts measuring 31 x 10.5 cm each. Iron the non-woven fabric on the details of the velvet. Fold 1 part of velveteen and cotton fabric with the front sides and sew short sections on one side. Iron the seam allowances. Turn out the details.

Step 5

Pin the knapsack detail to the longitudinal and short lower cuts of the side parts with the wrong side to the wrong side. Stitch details at a distance from the sewing machine foot.

Step 6

Seam allowances with finished oblique trim.

Step 7

On the satchel, install the lock according to the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging.

Step 8

Cut 2 lengths of 15 cm from the belt belt. Fasten the buckle to each length. Fold the ribbons in half, pin them from the bottom to the back of the satchel and stitch.
