To make the leggings wider, you can add stripes on the sides.

Leggings can be a little narrow for various reasons. And this is not necessarily an increase in the volume of the figure ... In this situation, for example, it was necessary to expand the half-stitched leggings. As it turned out, the knitwear in both directions does not stretch as much as it is necessary for this model, and when trying on, it turned out that the trousers were significantly narrow, and also short. Then it was decided to use knitwear in a contrasting color to add stripes and cuffs, plus a wide elastic band for the belt. Conclusion: it is worth checking the elasticity of the knitwear, and, if in doubt, take a larger pattern. If leggings for one reason or another need to be expanded, this workshop will help.

Here for the alteration was used an unnecessary belt from knitwear with lycra. If there is material of the same color / texture as the pants themselves, details can also be made from it, then they will be less noticeable.

Step 1

If your leggings have side seams, cut them off. If, as in our case, there are no seams, cut leggings along the side lines.

Step 2

Cut from the jersey stripes of the desired width.Consider allowances. Pin the lamps and sew them first to the front half, then to the back. If you are using a sewing machine, not an overlock, our tips on how to sew knitwear on a machine will help you.

Step 3

For the cuffs, cut out double stripes, sew them together in a circle. Fold in half inside out and sew an elastic seam to the bottom of the trousers.

Step 4

For a belt, sew an elastic tape of the desired length into a ring and sew to the upper cut. Done.
