Marianna Makarova: Good afternoon, friends! You are listening to the podcast of Burda Style magazine about fashion style and trends. With you I am the editor-in-chief of Marianna Makarova. And today, our guest is a theater and film actress, author of the training “Voice Alchemy” and poet Marina Lisovets.

Marina Lisovets: Hello, hello! Thank you for inviting me!

MM: Today, I think we will have an unusual conversation in every sense. Although, of course, we will talk about fashion and styles. And, most importantly, about the image and its creation. And who, if not the actress, can tell us something about this! Am I correct?

ML: That's absolutely for sure! And I will say right away that this is a two-way path: from our own personality to the image, and from the image that we must create and to which we strive - to our own personality and to our appearance. And I endlessly enjoy it still in use in life. These are such little professional secrets.

MM: Please tell me, is there a difference for you, what are you in life and what are you on stage or on the set? Among other things, you are also engaged in scoring ...

ML: Yes, a lot. And once upon a time I was asked a question on samples: here you are now, then in some passage it is different, and which one are you really? And I hung, because it is such a difficult question for a woman: what am I? And this is not because I do not understand what is happening in me and what is happening in my personality or in life. I understand that I am a kind of whole person and I cannot be another, but at the same time, I wake up every morning and, of course, I am different! It depends on the purpose and task of this day, on some of my mood, on what I want and don’t want today, in the end! We are girls, we are dependent on a lot, so my image of today is certainly a reflection, but I am the way I am!

MM: Please tell me, does the stage costume somehow help you tune in to the role? Get used to the image of a completely different person and from yourself go to another person?

ML: It helps a lot! Everything immediately changes: plastic, breathing, speech ... We should put on a hat - and we feel something completely different, and since we feel something else, we will become a little different person already. We open the door to some other person in order to rebuild. The cap gives a completely different, slightly Skoda feeling of self, right? And if I have loose hair, then I am a kind of romantic person - at least that’s how people read me, because I feel it.
And if I collect my hair in a tight tail, then a little bit of bitchiness wakes up in me, perhaps even aggressiveness, and if necessary, such a sharpness. This all really changes us, of course. And when I am preparing for the next role, especially since the last 5 years of my life I create these roles myself, then, thinking over the project, I try to mold my image in advance, decorate it and make it as accurate as possible so that it helps me on stage . And it works a lot!

00:03:45

MM: But this may be an unusual question: what do you feel more organically about? In a dress, maybe even in a historical dress or, for example, in a men's suit?

ML: Probably, at this period of my life, it’s still a man’s suit or leather pants, or like at my last concert such a slightly dark, even aggressive, noir look ...

MM: Brutal!

ML: Yes, brutal. And you can add chains and some demons to it ... (laughs) But it’s just now such a program and such poems and emotions came to my life that prompted them to birth. And then, we are all conductors, so at the moment, apparently, for some reason, and for some reason, I need to broadcast this. And it seems to even work out, because there is a response, my image makes the right impression. Therefore, in life, when I understand that I want to achieve this or that result, to make this or that impression, I slightly draw some elements from my stage stories and they are really very working.

MM: So, love to play in life too?

ML: Honestly, I don’t know how to play in life. By the way, it seems to me that people who realize themselves in the gaming profession, they simply do not have time to play in life. I want just the real something, the most real! But the elements - they help well-being. If I understand that I need to be business-like, collected and accurate, for example, as in training, then of course I can’t miss the mark: it will be a tail and some kind of pencil case, perhaps the trousers and blouse are very strict and classic. They will give me the feeling that I am a little “teacher”! Although I really do not like being called a coach or teacher, I am a playing coach and, first of all, an actress!
And just like that, when we go for some tests, when we meet with the directors, we do not come already as a blank sheet - sculpt from me what you want. Nevertheless, I bring with me some of my story and my vision of the image to which I am invited.

MM: But what about the majority’s belief that an actress is, first of all, a red carpet and a dress on the floor ...

ML: Well, that’s very nice! (laughs)

MM: All actresses love these real evening dresses. Is this story about you too?

ML: Yes, I really love evening dresses! The main thing is that all this be appropriate, because there are concerts to which I come exclusively in evening dresses, and this gives me a completely different feeling. And the red carpet in my life so far has been only one: the film "Collector" at the St. Petersburg Film Festival. This is delight, rapture, a long dress on the floor and all that you said. Yes, the actresses love this, but behind all this there is a huge work on the image as well.

MM: It seems to me that great actresses are remembered not only for their roles, but also for their images. Suffice it to recall Diane Keaton - this is purely masculine and such an interesting style. Or, conversely, Audrey Hepburn, which has become for us the embodiment of femininity. And for you personally, what is closer?

ML: I feel closer to a sharp jazz and such an exact “bow”, and I must repeat once again that this tail is high. Today I am so a little relaxed, because there was a concert and I want to change in life. I like when my hair is gathered. This, apparently, makes my dance past known about itself. Because the hair in the eyes was unacceptable, and I danced a lot, for a long time and professionally. My hair was going hair-to-hair — such a dense-dense and almost licked tail. And I feel comfortable in it.I have this tail, probably like a Boyarsky hat! (laughs) You know, this is my attribute, in which some kind of self-identification takes place, and I begin to be friends with myself.

00:07:59

MM: Well, if you were dancing, then there must have been sparkles, fringe, feathers, lace ...

ML: Oh! But what about! (laughs)

MM: Is this now somehow present in your life?

ML: Yes, there are laces and sparkles in concert programs. And, frankly, in life, I also love all this very much. And now here in the studio I also gleam a little and tap with bracelets. It gives some special feeling of oneself. We are girls, we really need all this. Although we, of course, are very different ... And now, by the way, I still want to say it again: I urge everyone to be different!
It is clear that we have a certain whole essence and we transmit it to the world, depending on goals and objectives. But, when we play in different images, we enrich our own lives very much. Today I am like that, and tomorrow I am different. And this is not only color, but also the style, and the manner of behavior and even speech shades are somehow new, and immediately the world turns to us with completely different sides.

I am always very sad when a woman, especially if she is all so amazing, with some kind of her own story (and all the girls, it seems to me, are just that), and she puts on a mask! A mask of a businesswoman or housewife. And it’s good if it’s for a certain and specific period of life. But if it is for a long time, and the mask grows quickly psychologically and professionally, then this is very sad! Because in this situation, a woman, it seems to me, is simply robbing herself. Masks must be changed, then life will be more diverse: more gifts, meetings and some interesting things.

MM: Marina, it seems to me that you have such a busy vibrant life - to us from the studio, where you voiced something new, and again after us to the studio or to the rehearsal. And our city is large and complex in terms of transport. How do you manage to combine everything: on the one hand to be in the image, and on the other hand, to feel so comfortable and comfortable that you immediately enter the working mode?

ML: For many years I wore exclusively heels. Thank you or in spite of, I don’t even know, my growth, because my growth is small! And these heels, frankly, they exhausted me, although I liked myself wildly. I liked this feeling of myself in space. Now the heels are left for the stage or for filming, and brutal shoes have entered my life. You will not believe me so cool in them! They give some completely different sense of self. And there are many such things! This is how leather pants came into my life that I had never worn before, and they also gave me some new colors, a new manner of behavior and a way of moving. This is a very interesting experience, and things nevertheless certainly help us. But for me it is also very important what happens, for example, at the time of moving from place to place and at the time of a possible pause between rehearsals and dubbing in the studios.

Well, firstly, I write. I write poetry with me all the time, that is, I open the door and this flow starts to come in ... Sometimes it’s very difficult for me to switch back to rehearsal when I come to it, and then I’m adding something else, and in this state I always. Of course, in parallel with this, I always rehearse in my mind, work on some characters and on new projects. I think that this is how my time passes and it feeds me.

00:11:41

MM: I see that Marina brought with her two books, which she strokes so lovingly.

ML: I always love books! (laughs)

MM: Our listeners do not see these books, so I want Marina to introduce them and tell them how such books can help our listeners to create their image?

ML: These two books are infinitely dear to me, and in general they are notable for the fact that when I have some question about creating my own image or another character, I crawl into them, you know how to "read a book" ?! I start to guess at them and stumble upon what I was looking for. This is a book from the author R.M. Kirsanov. "Pink Xandrayka and the grandfather's scarf. Costume - a thing and an image in Russian literature of the XIX century." This is an absolutely amazing collection, despite the fact that such a kid! It has many interesting things that can be emphasized for today.

MM: Well, for example?

ML: For example, the story of a boa! This is absolutely amazing when we understand why and where it came from. So I will not specifically tell you any details now. I really want the girls to get into this book or something similar. And there really are a lot of such collections, I just found mine. This book was presented to me by the costume director in the picture of Pavel Lungin's “Lilac Branch”, and I’ve been traveling with it for almost 10 years now.

MM: I also want to say that in this book amazing watercolor illustrations are so subtle and so amazing! It seems to me that it’s just nice to hold such a book in your hands.

ML: Please hold, Marianne! Here, it is painted in detail about so many objects and things that reflected the essence, life and, of course, the intrapersonal qualities of a particular character. How cool it is when we start reading about the boa, about the xander and about some frock-coats and we understand where it came from! And why exactly these character traits of these people were.

MM: Or, for example, here on the first page I opened, I saw such a wonderful word "basquinha". I think this is a well-known Basque to us all! "The wide basquinas worn by Spanish and Sardinian women when they went outside hid their slender waists." It turns out that now the Basque, on the contrary, emphasizes that the prototype of this Basque just hid what women want to present now!

What about the second book?

ML: In addition, by the way, fabrics are very detailed here. When I'm looking for a character, fabrics also help me a lot. And the second book is "The history of the costume. European costumes from antiquity to the 20th century." This book is half a century old, but it is absolutely modern today. And she is absolutely amazing, she has so many sketches! And these sketches give me the full feeling that I am looking for for an image, whether it be a men's frock coat or some kind of dress coat, top hat or dress. All these sketches were so talentedly written half a century ago that they even give me the right plastic that I am looking for for a character. Things very dictate the manner of speaking, holding and moving. And so this book is just a gift for me: shoes, hats, and fans are painted here ... When I was working on the play "Obsession" by Turgenev and Viardot, I was still thinking, what kind of highlight? And this highlight was the language of the fan - it was from the same book.
This is all true now in any case, because nothing changes, like the language of flowers. These are the subtleties that adorn our life and, it seems to me, if the girls take it into their everyday lives, they will enrich it very much.

00:15:49

MM: Marina, you literally fleetingly said a phrase about fabrics and this, of course, could not but interest me as the editor-in-chief of the magazine for those who sew. Tell your favorite fabrics!

ML: I really like lace. And lace is probably my favorite. Although I understand that it is not always appropriate. And it does not always hide or, on the contrary, expose what is needed. And here are cotton fabrics, perhaps, but it's still for life, summer and the sea, of course. Yes, and I really love velvet!

MM: For some reason I thought so! (laughs)

ML: Precious and noble, playing in the light of spotlights and spotlights, it, of course, is incomparable!

MM: And I want to say that our listeners have a unique opportunity to join in and just feel what a velvet dress is for themselves! And how feminine, noble and luxurious it is. We have an amazing online course at the Burda Academy for sewing a red velvet dress, and on any female figure!

Just to emphasize all its advantages and hide some of the shortcomings.

ML: So, I intuitively felt that velvet can do all this!

MM: Of course. And I would also like to say about lace that it is now experiencing a whole new life, because not only romantic dresses, but also tops and sports bomber are sewn from lace. It seems to me that just such a thing would absolutely suit you, Marina, because it has a game, it has a twist and some riddle and mystery, and even some kind of subtext, which should still be in the image!

ML: Mandatory! Thank you very much for the advice, I will certainly use it somewhere, Marianne!

MM: And for our listeners, nothing is impossible, because they are handmade, they sew with their own hands and I urge everyone to buy our magazine Burda, sew from new numbers, go to our website burdastyle.ru, go to our social networks and, of course, listen Our podcasts on all platforms: Apple, Google, Yandex. Music. And I was with you - the editor-in-chief of the magazine Marianna Makarova and our amazing guest: theater and film actress, author of the training “Voice Alchemy” and poet Marina Lisovets.

ML: Thank you so much! And I want to say goodbye: be different, change and do not get tired of doing it!
