Do-it-yourself wallet made from leftover fabrics

A multi-colored mini-wallet does not take up much space in your purse, it also fits easily in your pocket. A convenient format for traveling and walking light.

Thanks to such a sewing project, you will get rid of shreds of fabric that are always a pity to just throw away.

The size of the wallet is 8x10 cm. It has 3 compartments for plastic cards and business cards, a zippered compartment for small items and a large compartment for banknotes. The wallet is fastened with a button.

You will need:

  • A flap of fabric for the outer part of the wallet measuring 12x19 cm;
  • A flap of fabric for the inner part of the wallet measuring 12x19 cm;
  • A cut of the seal 12x19 cm in size (you can use cushioning material for the patchwork);
  • 3 shreds of fabric for compartments for cards with a size of 12x10 cm;
  • Flap of fabric for separation with a zipper 12x20 cm;
  • Fabric flap for valve 5x11 cm;
  • Seal cut 5x11cm;
  • Zipper 15 cm long;
  • Button for fastener

Step 1

Cut out all the details.

Step 2

Fold the details of the pockets (compartments for plastic cards) along in half and iron them.

Step 3

Lay the line along the fold, departing from it 1-1.5 cm.

Step 4

Use the tailor pins to pin the part for the trivial compartment with the wrong side to the zipper.

Sew it down.

Step 5

Unscrew the part up, iron and stitch it to the zipper.Do the same on the other side of the zipper.

The width of the upper part is 3 cm, the bottom is 5 cm.

Step 6

Fold the part of the valve for the fastener and seal together, and then in half so that the front side of the valve is inside.

Draw a contour of the valve.

Lay a line along the marking.

Cut the allowance.

Turn the valve to the front side and sew to the edge.

Step 7

Mark the middle line on the inside of the wallet.

On one half of the part, place the details of the pockets (compartments for plastic cards) as shown in the photo and stitch along the bottom edge.

Step 8

Place the flap valve on the bottom pocket.

Place the detail of the compartment for small items on the opposite side of the inner part of the wallet.

Step 9

Place the outer part face down on the inside of the wallet with compartments. Over it a sealant. Chop all parts with tailor pins.

Step 10

Stitch the parts, leaving a small opening for turning out.

Step 11

Cut the corners obliquely, cut the zippers of lightning.

Step 12

Through the open hole, turn the wallet to the front side. Sew the hole manually with a blind seam.

Step 13

Iron the wallet and defer it to the edge.

Step 14

Install the button on the valve as a fastener.

Instead of a button, you can punch a buttonhole on a sewing machine, and sew a button on your wallet.
